Riverside Regional Medical Center, a consortium providing inpatient care and outpatient treatment, is located in Newport News, Virginia. The center serves more than 1,000 oncology patients annually. Initially accredited by the ACoS in 1983, the cancer registry (est. January 1979) follows approximately 7,300 cases. The Radiation Therapy Center serves more than 680 new patients yearly and is ACR accredited. Other highlights include a hospice program (1979), a home health program (1982), current ACoS accreditation (2000), an oncology medical/surgical unit, and a hematology/oncology unit (1992).
