To meet the mission and vision of the newly formed UVA-Riverside Clinical Trials Alliance, Riverside Health seeks a full time Assistant Vice President of Clinical Trials and Research, to lead the infrastructure development and operations of research activities across the health system.

Through the UVA-Riverside Alliance, we will collaboratively offer a robust clinical trials program beginning with cancer, cardiovascular and neurology to meet the needs of the community served. This position is responsible for the coordinated development and implementation of strategic, programmatic, and operational planning for the research division. This includes increasing clinical trial volumes in cancer and non-cancer disciplines in a way that is safe and effective. This also includes integrating and managing specialized teams to support research operations, such as data analysis, finance, budgets, and audits and guiding other research units or outsourced functions as appropriate.

The scope of responsibilities include: program development and growth, financial analysis, physician and staff recruitment, and collecting and analyzing program metrics (e.g., performance, portfolio, enrollment, workload, etc.). Works in collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, including research staff (e.g., Principal Investigators, nurses, coordinators, etc.), internal offices (e.g., Regulatory Affairs, Legal Affairs, Business Office, etc.) and departments (e.g., Infusion/CHPS, Pharmacy, Devices, etc.), in addition to the Director of the UVA Health-Riverside Clinical Research Program Alliance.

The innovative collaboration between UVA Health and RHS reflects a shared commitment to enhancing access to cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials in Eastern Virginia. Clinical trials are crucial in offering exceptional care. All work will be performed independently with minimal supervision or direction; some work-related responsibilities may occur outside of regular business hours. Work requires travel between offices and health systems (UVA and RHS).

  • Collects and analyzes program metrics (e.g., performance, portfolio, enrollment, workload, etc.), reports to stakeholders, and adjusts as needed.
  • Ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with GCP, HIPAA, and applicable regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors Degree, Related field (Required) Masters Degree, Related field (Preferred)
  • Experience:
    • 3-4 years Experience in Clinical Research (Required)
    • 5-6 years Managerial/ leadership experience in healthcare (Required)
    • Oncology experience (Preferred)
    • Knowledge of regulatory requirements of clinical trials (Preferred)
    • An equivalent contribution of education/ experience will be considered
  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • Actively licensed clinical professional required (i.e. RN, Pharmacist) (Required)
