The Louisiana Oncology Society (LOS) membership offers targeted resources that address state-specific challenges and promote solutions to help its members strengthen their practices’ bottom lines and meet the daily demands of providing quality cancer care:

  • Learning and networking with peers and Industry representatives at Annual Cancer Congress;
  • Advocacy support to address policies that affect oncology care, including legislative updates on state and federal issues; legislative participation through an interactive advocacy platform; collaboration with peers on state-level advocacy initiatives; and access to dedicated policy consultant and committee;
  • Leadership opportunities on state board that provide strategic guidance and direction on state priorities and initiatives;
  • Free continuing education credits for clinicians to stay informed of best practices and advances in care;
  • Professional development opportunities and award programs to engage fellows and allied health professionals in the oncology care community;
  • Representation on the ASCO State Affiliate Council for a range of services that address the practical needs of oncology professionals;
  • Engagement in LOS members-only community within the ACCCeXchange online discussion forum for local shared knowledge, insights, and real-time conversations among colleagues from every oncology discipline;
  • Multidisciplinary education and resources from the Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC).

 

Types of Annual Membership & Dues, January 1 - December 31

  • Group: Licensed physicians and allied health professionals including, but not limited to, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, pharmacists, physician assistants, administrators, social workers, and office managers in an oncology practice or university. Dues: Complimentary.
  • Regular: Licensed physician caring for patients with cancer. Dues: Complimentary.
  • Allied Health Professional: Healthcare staff person including, but not limited to, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, pharmacist, physician assistant, administrator, social worker, and office manager. Dues: Complimentary.
  • Fellow: Physician enrolled in subspecialty training program to care for patients with cancer. Dues: Complimentary.
  • Retired: Former physician or allied health professional who is no longer practicing. Dues: Complimentary.

It has been an educational experience serving on the board of LOS. Our state oncology society serves as a voice for our oncology community and also provides education to the doctors, nurses, and patients on the latest and greatest therapeutic approaches to cancer care.
