Advisory Committee

Jae Jung, MD, PhD, is the director of Oncologic Dermatology at the Norton Cancer Institute and assistant professor in the Division of Dermatology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Jung is board certified in dermatology and specializes in cutaneous medical oncology.

Dr. Jung received the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (F31) and an NIH Research Project Grant (R01).

Dr. Jung completed her medical and doctoral degrees at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  She received her doctorate in molecular and cellular biology. After completing her dermatology residency, she completed research fellowships in melanoma immunotherapy and tumor biology at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research in Wellington, New Zealand and the University of Utah.

Matthew Manning, MD, is chief of oncology at Cone Health Cancer Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is board certified in radiation oncology and clinical informatics, and his clinical interests include prostate, brain and spine, and thoracic cancers. His research has focused on high-tech therapies, including stereotactic radiosurgery and brachytherapy.

Dr. Manning has been published in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics and International Journal of Radiation Oncology | Biology | Physics. In 2016, his work received the Association of Community Cancer Centers’ Innovator Award. In collaboration with the Greensboro Health Disparities Collaborative, Dr. Manning has also co-authored studies to support eliminating racial disparities in cancer care.

Dr. Manning received his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine and completed his residency at VCU Health System.

Cynthia Ryan, PharmD, BCPS, is a clinical pharmacist in the gynecologic oncology clinic at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. She is passionate about improving the lives of patients through patient education and supportive care. Dr. Ryan enjoys collaborating with the care team to meet the needs of patients and their families and thrives on the continued learning that is central to oncology.

Dr. Ryan obtained her PharmD from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana and completed her undergraduate training at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.

Beth Sandy, MSN, CRNP, is a thoracic oncology nurse practitioner at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center’s Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her clinical expertise is in lung cancer.

Sandy has been an oncology nurse for more than 25 years and speaks and presents nationally on the care of patients with lung cancer and the supportive care needs of patients undergoing treatment for lung cancer. She also works in editorial roles and chairs several oncology nursing conferences and symposia annually. Sandy belongs to the Penn Lung Cancer Program, which incorporates surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy to deliver integrated care for complex management of non-small cell and small cell lung cancer.

Sandy attended Temple University School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
