Expanding Access to Care in the Northwest

Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick, Wash., announced that it has opened a satellite office in Hermiston, Oregon, to make access to cancer care easier for patients traveling from longer distances. The office is an agreement with Hermiston's Good Shepher Medical Center and Richland's Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

Predictive Modeling for Radiation in Tampa

Researchers from the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute have developed a new genomically-vased model that can optimize and personalize radiation dosage to match patients' individual needs. This new model combines a radiation sensitivity index (RSI) with a model used to determine the effect of radiation dose on tumor and normal tissues, generating a new dose determining method.

Mobile Screening in Utah

Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City recently unveiled its first mobile screening clinic that will be initially used to provide breast cancer and melanoma screenings. The custom RV contains a 3D mammography system, privacy curtains and changing rooms, and a television for cancer education programs.
