Tiffany Brosius, RN, BSN, OCN, is a nurse navigator working with patients with gastrointestinal malignancies at Winship Cancer Institute.

An oncology-certified nurse, Mrs. Brosius began her nursing career as an outpatient chemotherapy infusion nurse at University Cancer and Blood Center in Athens, Georgia. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and accepted a position as a Nurse Clinician on the medical oncology floor at Emory University Hospital. She then transitioned back to the outpatient setting to continue her nursing career as an Advanced Nurse Clinician at Winship Cancer Institute, focusing on gastrointestinal malignancies. In this role, she assisted patients with symptom management and chemotherapy education.

She is a local and national member of the Oncology Nursing Society and was recently accepted as a member to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Emory University.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Regents University, formerly known as the The Medical College of Georgia.

Melanie Thomas, MD, is a medical oncologist, clinical researcher, and Associate Director for Experimental Therapeutics at Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Her research has included clinical trials in solid tumors through the National Cancer Institute (NCI), pharmaceutical industry, NCTN cooperative groups, investigator initiated, and Phase I trials of novel agents, all of which have been published in peer-reviewed oncology journals. Dr. Thomas has led numerous clinical trials in hepatocellular carcinoma and other gastrointestinal cancers and is an internationally recognized expert in these malignancies. She received the NCI Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award 2009-2010.

Dr. Thomas attended Boston University School of Medicine, completed internal medicine residency at The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, and spent nine years at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as a medical oncology fellow and faculty member. Previously she was Associate Director, Clinical Investigations, Hollings Cancer Center, Medical University of South Carolina. From 2007-2014 she was President of CanLiv – The Hepatobiliary Cancers Foundation, now part of The Global Liver Institute.

He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK and Chair of the pancreatic cancer committee at the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG). An internationally-recognized lecturer, Dr. Philip is known for his research in the development of new therapies for gastrointestinal and neuroendocrine cancers.

Hildy Dillon, MPH, is the vice president of education and support programs for Cancer Support Community (CSC), where she oversees CSC programs and services for people living with cancer, their caregivers, and loved ones. This includes education and outreach, the Cancer Support Helpline, online virtual support services, programmatic professional training and program development, and dissemination across CSC’s affiliate network and beyond.

Hildy has decades of leadership experience in the non-profit sector in patient and professional advocacy and education. She has a global reputation for building positive alliances among patients, clinicians, research scientists, pharmaceutical and biotech, government, and professional organizations. Respected for her expertise in the clinical development of therapeutics and diagnostics, Hildy serves in an advisory capacity to many pharmaceutical and biotech companies addressing issues of patient access, adherence, and patient-centered outcomes.

Katherine Sharpe, MTS, is the senior vice president of patient and caregiver support and has been with the American Cancer Society (ACS) since 1997, most recently serving as vice president of health systems for the South Atlantic Division, where she provided leadership for the vision, direction, and strategy for health systems.

As SVP, Katherine provides strategic direction for the Society’s patient and caregiver support, as well as post-treatment survivorship initiatives (interventions, campaigns, programs, services, and products); overseeing strategic, integrated, comprehensive planning for and execution of patient/caregiver post-treatment survivorship initiatives at all levels of the organization. Katherine previously served as the Society’s managing director of prevention and survivorship strategy, where she provided key leadership in establishing the National Cancer Survivorship Resource Center, which allowed the Society to help shape the future of survivorship care and improve the quality of life of cancer survivors after treatment.
