Rolling Out CAR T in Oklahoma

On June 12, Stephenson Cancer Center at OU Medicine announced that it has begun offering chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR T) therapy for adult advanced lymphoma and pediatric and young adult acute lymphoblastic lymphoma (ALL). Stephenson Cancer Center becomes just one of a handful of cancer programs in the United States to offer the treatment.

Funding the Fight against Cancer in Wisconsin

On June 11, the Wisconsin state legislature's Joint Finance Committee voted to include a $10 million grant in the state budget to help fund a planned cancer research facility at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The proposed 150,000-square-foot facility would reside on their Wauwatosa campus.

Celebrating Survivors in New Hampshire

On June 12, Seacoast Cancer Center hosted its annual celebration of patients with cancer, coinciding with National Cancer Survivors Day. Current and former patients, their families and caregivers, and even therapy dogs joined for a "Peace, Love, and Survivorship" 1960s-themed dinner.

Planting the Seeds of Beauty in Ohio

At Mercy Health - Springfield Cancer Center, volunteers have started a beautification project to liven up the cancer center's healing garden. Current and former patients and volunteers from the community bought flats of flowers, hanging baskets, and custom-built fairy gardens to reinvigorate the common healing space.

A New Home for Treatment in Alabama

East Alabama Medical Center wrapped up construction on its new $39.7 million Spencer Cancer Center on May 15 and will open doors to patients on June 17. The 60,000-square-foot facility will feature an onsite oncology pharmacy, women's boutique, two linear accelerators, a high-dose radiation machine, and a PET/CT machine.
