Sandra Vassos, MPA Joins ACCC as Chief Development Officer

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is pleased to announce that Sandra Vassos, MPA, has joined the association as Chief Development Officer. ACCC is the leading education and advocacy organization for the multidisciplinary cancer team.

An accomplished nonprofit professional, Ms. Vassos brings more than 20 years of executive and development leadership experience with healthcare associations and foundations to ACCC. As Chief Development Officer, she will lead efforts to strengthen and expand relationships with key stakeholders including cancer care providers, industry supporters, and partner organizations. She joined ACCC in January 2015.

"ACCC is rapidly growing as the go-to resource for oncology professionals, particularly in the community setting," said Christian Downs, JD, MHA, ACCC Executive Director. "Ms. Vassos brings a strategic vision that will help position the organization for the future. Her focus on revenue development will enable ACCC to continue to expand its educational offerings and resources to providers, as they work with patients to navigate the cancer treatment journey."

"I am honored to join ACCC in this position," said Ms. Vassos. "Championing the delivery of quality oncology care and ensuring patient access to that care is at the heart of ACCC’s mission, and I look forward to working with the membership to advance this goal."

Most recently, Ms. Vassos served as CEO of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and previously as Associate Executive Director of the American Urological Association, Executive Director of the American Urological Association Foundation, Executive Director of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, and Chief Development Officer/Senior Vice President of the American Liver Foundation. Ms. Vassos is recognized as an industry leader and has received numerous awards and commendations for her work in national public healthcare campaigns, raising awareness of critical cancer issues. Ms. Vassos is a recipient of the prestigious STAR Award sponsored by the New York Woman's Agenda.

A native New Yorker, Ms. Vassos received a master’s degree in Public Administration from New York University.
